We have eight chickens; 2 Rhode Island Reds (Henry - a cockeral (- he was meant to be Henrietta) and Georgina), 2 Welsummers (Hetty and Betty), 2 Exchequer Leghorns (Mable and Mildred) and 2 hybrids (Herty and Gerty - who are very tame and like to be picked up and stroked!). Mable and Mildred are the best layers and lay small white eggs nearly every day even in this cold weather. Herty and Gerty also lay quite frequently and lay large brown eggs.
Our girls are reluctant to come out in the snow - can you blame them
So we have hung up cabbages in their hen houses to entertain them whilst they are indoors.
